It allows you to Search & Filter your posts / custom posts / products by any number of parameters allowing your users to easily find what they are looking for on your site, whether it be a blog post, a product in an online shop and more.

Features List

  1. Create forms to search your posts, products, or any other custom post types in your site
  2. Add WordPress meta data and taxonomy filters to your site
  3. Drag and drop interface – makes building and editing forms so much easier
  4. Use AJAX to display results! No page refreshes. Also power your pagination with Ajax
  5. Auto Count / Dynamic Count – dynamically update the count values in the search forms as a user is searching to reflect the correct number of terms for the current search.
  6. Modifies the main query, so displaying your results is easy
  7. Create as many different search forms as you like, and as many results pages as you like

  10. Available Fields:
    • Search
      • add a search input field to your forms to allow users to enter text – uses the same functionality as you current search box – this may be the default search behaviour or enhanced behaviour from other plugins such as Relevanssi
      • Live Update – with Ajax enabled, your search results will auto update whilst typing
    • Tag, Category, Taxonomy – allow users to filter by any combination of these
      • input types: dropdowns, radio buttons, checkboxes, multiselects, single or multiselect comboboxes from Chosen
      • options: hierarchical, hide empty terms, display count, exclude terms by ID
      • order terms by: ID, name, slug, count, term group
      • search logic: all terms must be included (AND), or any of the terms must be included (OR)
    • Post Type
      • input types: dropdowns, radio buttons, checkboxes, multiselects, single or multiselect comboboxes from Chosen
    • Post Date
      • input types: single date, date range
      • jQuery Date Picker
      • Choose if the picker has a dropdown for months/years
      • Date display formats: “dd/mm/yyyy”, “mm/dd/yyyy” and “yyyy/mm/dd”
    • Post Meta – allow users to search custom fields/meta data
      •  allow users to select between number ranges, date picker and choice fields
      • input types:
        • number: range slider, range number, range radio buttons
        • choice: dropdown, radio, checkbox, multiselects, single or multiselect comboboxes from Chosen 
        • date: jQuery date picker, single date or two two date pickers to select a date range – supports dates saved in the database in the format YYYYMMDD or as a timestamp
    • Author
      • input types: dropdowns, radio buttons, checkboxes, multiselects, single or multiselect comboboxes from Chosen 
      • options: hide authors with no posts, display count, exclude admins, use full names
      • order authors by: ID, name, email, url, registred date, login, post count
    • Sort Order – a field to allow users to sort results by various parameters including meta data
      • Options: sort results by ID, author, title, name, date, date modified, parent ID, random, comment count and menu order
      • Meta Data: this can include by popularity, price, or anything else you use your meta fields for as numerically or you can sort your meta data alphabetically.
      • Choose whether sorting is ASC or DESC – both are optional.
      • Custom labels for all options – completely customise text that is displayed in the dropdown
  11. Frontend UI elements – jQuery date picker, range sliders and comboboxes from Chosen.
  12. Use custom templates for your search results.
  13. I18n ready – translations are planned

Works with Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugin – allows you to search with dropdowns, checkboxes, radio buttons and multiselect even where the meta value is serialized.  Essentially, if you are using any of the Basic fields (not text area) or Choice fields then you can filter these in Search & Filter Pro.  Date Picker is now also supported provided the date is stored as “yymmdd” as the save option with ACF.

    Hi ,

    We are getting an error “Error: The `has_archive` attribute is set to false for the post type Pages – this must be enabled in order to use the Post Type Archive in WP.”Can you please help on what the error is and how to solve it.

    In your licensing policy you write: “A valid and active license key is required in order to get automatic upgrades for purchased extensions. Updates are included for free for one year. If you have a valid and active license key, and your plugin(s) supports it, updates will be delivered automatically from the WordPress dashboard.”.

    Does it mean, that after one year I will be able to update Search&Filter Pro manually ?
    Or does it mean, that after one year I won’t be able to update Search&Filter Pro plugin ? So your plugin costs 20$/year when I want to be up to date.

      The second option, if you don’t have a license you can’t receive updates in any way. Just to add, there is a discount on renewals, I think currently this is about $16 per year. Thanks

      You can use it anywhere you like (you can use a shortcode to place it), to do horizontal form you will need CSS probably – we can point you in the right direction with some code if you open a ticket on support. Thanks

      Its not per domain, its per install, so if you had two different sites, one on subdomain, and one on main domain, that would be two single site licenses. Best

  7. Hi,
    I am considering buying the pro version but ive been trialling your demo version and when i set post_types=”product” to filter only products, in the search query it defines ‘post_types=”products”‘ when it should only be post_type=”product” and is therefore showing up page listings instead of product listings?

      Hey Chris, this was intentional, we added `post_types` to allow multiple post types, which WP does not support by default.

      Anyway, Pro is a bit different, and won’t add this to the URL, you choose your results page and get to set the post types via admin area. It looks like you’re using woocommerce, pro has full support for this 🙂

      S&F is limited to any post type in WP, search for users’ is not possible. Best

    Pre-sale Question: I have 100 tracks on my website and I want to let users search based on Moods, Genres, Instruments etc. Right now my genres are set under Stations and my moods as Tags. Will I be able to cross search multiple genres and moods in one search?

    Hi Ross,

    It seems like I have to hit ‘search’ (ZOEKEN) twice before it gives correct results. For example: if I first search for ‘Akkeringa, J.E.H. (4)’ and then ‘Agutte, G. (1)’, the first time it just shows one Akkeringa in stead of the Agutte. Only when I hit the ‘search’ button again, it actualy shows the Agutte. I tried out a lot of different settings, but the problem remains. I used Search & Filter Pro in the footer: http://colourfulgreen.heinklaver.nl (maria[@]colourfulgreen.nl)

    I’ve a question about WooCommerce compatibility, is the following point fully compliant with WC ?
    Post Meta – allow users to search custom fields/meta data. So I can create select inputs belong my products custom fields?

  13. Hi there, i already have older version of Search&Pro installed on my website. It is addapted to do very specific search. So, my question is, if i buy and install new one updated version, it will work similar, or it need to be adapted again?

      If by adapted, you mean setting up Search Forms with their options, and the integration with your theme, then you should just be able to upgrade (there is a small chance of an upgrade issue, but settings should be saved).

      If you meant you have modified the Search & Filter plugin files themselves, then we cannot guarantee anything, modifying plugins directly is not recommended in WP because when updating a plugin the old files will be replaced with the new files.

    Presale question. It is possible: exclude “child category product” (sub-category product) in options of search?
    I have a lot of sub-categories, and only 12 categories. I do not want to show all sub-categories, only 12 major.

    This is an amazing plugin. Was hoping this to be WordPress default, who knows why they haven’t taken it this far.
    Anyway, I saw a “slider selector” in the movie ranking page demo. Is this only available in the Pro version?
    Also what other types of filter selectors do we get in the Pro version?
    I’m looking at building something similar to Trivago filter bar, would this be possible with Search & Filter?

    Hi there! Presale question. I have about 4 categories containing a collective total of 60 tags to use on my image library and would like to be able to have them listed on the left side where users can “checkbox” the tags they care about, and the images will show up on the right side.
    I want them to be able to click the image they want and get a brief description to go with it.
    Do you think that is doable with this? Thank you!

      Hey Cynthia

      Absolutely this is possible. What happens when you click a search result is upto you, as you can create your own WordPress template for your search result. If you are a coder you can add things like JS popups etc from teh results list no problem, but this part is a customisation you will have to handle, the rest S&F does out of the box 🙂

    I’m working on a real estate website and S&F seems to fit my needs.
    I am really interested in buying Search & Filter Pro.
    I created a custom meta field called ID (4 numbers).
    Is it possible to make an input search field for this field ?
    On documentations I have read : Post Meta (Custom Fields) – Search your post meta – supports number ranges, choice inputs (dropdown, checkbox, multiselect or radio) or dates and date ranges.
    Not search input with ‘compare’ choice ?
