    Hey,

How do you control the way the search results actually look?
E.g. in the movie example you had thumbnails, and in the other example the layout was a masonry style.

    How’d you define it?

    Thanks!

Hey Nabil, S&F free and Pro work quite differently at the moment. In pro its easy to specify which template you want to use for search results. In free, the search results layouts are defined in your theme.

S&F free will typically use your themes search.php, archive.php and taxonomy-name-archive.php – basically free redirects to URLs which follow the WP template hierarchy – https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/basics/template-hierarchy/

      Thanks

Hello, I understand that the payment is annual, does this mean that if I do not renew the license the plugin stops working? And, can I make the filters appear on any page? Thanks for your reply.

      Hey Raul

You may continue to use the plugin after the license expired no problem,

RE filters, with S&F you add fields/filters to a search form. You can then make this search form appear anywhere on your site.

      Thanks

This product looks great, but can it provide output in a list/table format as well? Thanks!

    • Ross

You get access to the loop/query directly, so if you are able to build/modify a WordPress php template, then you can of course change the results output to look however you want 🙂 Thanks

Hi, if I purchase a single license is it straight forward to move between different domain names (with regards to the licensing) as I’d like to set everything up on a test domain first. Thanks

    • Ross

That won’t be a problem, you can move your single site license by deactivating/activating within the dashboard 🙂

Hey there, renewal is yearly and comes with 30% discount currently, you must renew before your license expires to receive the discount.

Hello, I’d like to buy the single site license to test it out. Assuming we like it, we’ll eventually need another. If in the event we need more than three, is it pretty straightforward to upgrade to the dev license? Thanks.

    • Ross

Hi Sarah, we are limited by the system we use to sell S&F on this site. We have upgrade paths enabled for single site to development license (so there is cost reduction of course, you can do this from your account), but it can’t handle anything more complex, so multiple single site licenses won’t reduce the cost when you want to upgrade to development, it would be best to test out with single site and then go straight to developer if you can. Thanks

  10. Hi, I am having a LOT of trouble. I just took over a website from a web designer who disappeared and they are using your SEARCH & FILTER PRO plugin. When I try and upgrade, (currently using 2.1.2), I get this message: Update Failed: Download failed. Unauthorized

Obviously since the guy disappeared I dont have access to any user name or password he may have used with you – so how do I resolve?

    Thank you

Hi Lee, the designer that was working on it should have registered the license for their client.. if they registered it under their own name (and paid for it), then there is nothing I can do about it, as the license is affiliated with the user, and gets assigned to a website.

If they registered it for the client (against your clients email address), then the client would hopefully have copies of registration info & login details – whereby you would be able to login and manage your account etc – but it sounds like this is unlikely the case.

I’m guessing your best bet is to ask your client for the info, if they do not have it then you’ll need to get them to purchase a new license.

Once you get a license you’ll be able to receive updates etc as normal.. Just be aware that the designer may / may not have changed the core plugin files (I’ve seen this happen), so take backups etc… Any further questions drop me a message here: http://www.designsandcode.com/contact/

      Thanks

Hi, I sent an email and have not heard back. I purchased the app again and I want to know how I can get it installed WITHOUT deleting the old one or messing anything up. I sent this 4 days ago and have not heard back. Thanks

Hi, I’m wanting to create a page where users can click radio buttons/check boxes for the features they’re after for a product – which will be taken from a list of all categories and tags. The list needs to be subtractive, so if you tick boxes for both ‘black’ & ‘heavy’ for example it will only show products tagged with both black and heavy.

    Will this plugin do that?

    Hello

I have presale question. Is your plugin works well with metabox plugin?

    Thanks in advance

I haven’t actually tested the two, but any plugin using post meta (which it looks like that one does) will work fine, I know S&F works with PODS and ACF, I assume this plugin uses similar methods 🙂

    Hi there,

If i want to search based on custom fields/post_meta, do i need to get the pro version? And if i do, what would be the difference between the single-site and developer license? Would it be one time fee or …. ?

    Kindly advise.

    • Ross

Yup, pro searches custom fields where free does not.

Dev license means you can use it on unlimited number of sites whereas single is one.

The cost is for 1 year of support and updates, after which you can renew at 30% discount otherwise you can continues to the use the version you have unlimited, without updates & support.

      Hope that makes sense! Best

This looks like a great plugin! We have a requirement to filter products by published date. Can that be accomplished using this plugin?

    Reply
    • Ross

Yup absolutely, we have a single date picker field, or two date pickers to do a date range for published date 🙂

    Hi Ross,
We are designing a web site, and want to use Search & Filter plugin, there is already a online site, where we did not want to devel, therefore we have a local site… we want to test ajax update… we must buy 2 single site licenses?

    Thanks

    Reply
    • Ross

Hey Alejandro, if you have the license yourself, then you can just “deactivate” the license on teh live site and then “activate” on the local site – only 1 license should be required (we do not ask to purchase extra just for development). Thanks

The search bar down the side is Search & Filter in action, the rest is combination of custom taxonomies (using CPTUI plugin) and custom fields using ACF plugin (this is for attaching data to your posts)… then the theme is just a modified version of 2016 with a layout for movies I made.. Best

      • Hi Ross,

        I have another question.

When I use the premium plugin to filter the content, can I do that the results are shown alphabeticaly? or I need to mess with the code to achieve that.

        Thanks for the help.
